Show Me the Money: Indirect Methods of Determining Income

Determining whether all income has been accurately and truthfully disclosed in divorces and other litigations can require using indirect methods to reconstruct and calculate a person’s true income.
In this session, you will explore various indirect methods of proving income such as source and application of funds, cash transaction (Cash-T) and bank deposit analysis. You will also learn when and how to deploy each method for specific challenges you may face. Additionally, you will review key concepts such as developing sources of cash available, determining cash on hand, the effect of cash businesses and the problem of co-mingling funds.
Possess a basic knowledge of accounting, possess the ability to review and reconcile bank statements, possess the ability to review entries on a tax return, possess the ability to review balance sheets, possess an ability draw a conclusion from financial facts revealed.
Deploy indirect methods of proving income and their effect on case litigation.
Calculate a simple indirect method of proof.

Should an event be cancelled or postponed by the ACFE due to unforeseen circumstances, the ACFE will process a full refund of registration fees within 30 days of such circumstances becoming known. The ACFE will attempt to notify affected customers by phone and email after it determines cancellation is necessary.
